The word “mantra” means the thought that liberates and protects. Mantras are sounds or words which have the ability to change the consciousness of the reciter. There are thousands of mantras in the Hindu tradition, each with a different purpose or intention. Mantras are used for energetic and empowering reasons, resonating and activating the chakras, and numerous other purposes.1
My favourite mantras-specific book is Healing Mantras by Thomas Ashley-Farrand, but Goldman’s book provided some excellent information on toning vowel sounds in relation to the chakras. |
